Hi all shiny hapi people,
I'm using the HAPI + Dell 2808 switch (properly loaded with correct config file) but my Apple MBP (OSX 10.10.5) in the network settings is still showing the yellow dot and ''Self-Assigned IP'' status. Might that cause any problems? I think that Ethernet status should be green and ''Connected''.
Please can you give me an advice how to solve this issue?

I'm no IT guy, but a couple questions to help narrow it down...

Have you verified that the switch is indeed configured to hand out IP addresses, as a DHCP server? (it likely comes configured as 'disabled' and runs as an unmanaged switch)

Are you sure it's ok to have WiFi enabled? That would appear to be giving your machine two IP addresses (one from Wireless AP and one from DHCP server on ethernet)

Does HAPI have an IP address?

If you want to run this in a super simple way, you can set your MacBookPro to have a manual IP address, HAPI to have a manual IP address, and use a straight piece of Cat6 between them... That's what I do with my HOURUS / MacBookPro setup...

the connection will only appear in Green when access to internet is possible.
With Ravenna Network or Hapi, the connection will not be able to connect to the internet."

Absolutely incorrect information from Merging.

It looks like your Dell 2808 is not configured to do DHCP and hand out IP addresses. That self-assigned IP address does not look like something the switch/router would be handing out.

The Merging device and the computer are probably finding each other on localdomain, but that doesn't look correct at all.

Trying to attach a screenshot of what it looks like (why can't I see a button to add an image?). MacBookPro is configured with a manual IP address, and connected to HORUS with a straight piece of wire (where HORUS also has a manual IP address). I've named this setup 'HORUS Direct' in my Network settings window. I have another setting for 'Browsing'.

Dell Switches PowerConnect 2808, 2824... are configured for Ravenna Network and use a default 169.254.x.x IP adress range.

Ravenna/AES67 is a dedicated network for Audio over IP and we do not recommend to have both AoIP Devices and Internet (or anything else) on the same network.

Ok, well if the DHCP server in the Dell 2808 is correctly handing out IP addresses in the 169.254.x.x range, then the IP address on your computer is valid, however...

From my experience, you'll need to turn off WiFi, and have only one active interface.

For some reason, my Mac Pro Tower (circa 2012) is comfortable having multiple Network Interfaces active, and can function with the WiFi, and both Ethernet ports active - BUT - my MacBook Pro (circa 2016) is not happy with WiFi turned on (as yours is) and also an active Ethernet port.

I think you'll find that the Ethernet port will go green once you disable WiFi.

When I turn off wifi, Ethernet has still a self-assigned IP address and yellow state. I tried even re-plug of cable and restarting of my computer.

I'm on OSX 10.10.5 MacBook Pro (15-inch, Mid 2012)
