RAID fun

Postby charlienyc » Thu May 19, 2011 19:17

hi,
i don't have much of a concept of how many Pyramix users use a RAID for their work, but thought this would be worth mentioning. if you're running RAID 5 with an Intel RAID controller, using Intel Maxtrix Storage Manager on the software side, avoid version 8.9, as it is prone to random drive failures: http://www.intel.com/support/chipsets/imsm/sb/CS-030818.htm

i'm sure i don't have to tell you these drive failures can take you offline for days! :x

cheers,
