Jan. 2018 MS Windows Security updates and performance issues

If you are running Pyramix on an older computer, like I do on my 2012 Mac Mini, you may have noticed a performance slow-down following the January 2018 Security Updates from Microsoft, stemming from the measures taken to combat the Meltdown vulnerability in Intel and AMD processors.

Happily, there is a workaround in the form of InSpectre from GRC - https://www.grc.com/inspectre.htm, which will examine your system, tell you about the current state of vulnerability, and most importantly, provide a means to disable the measures taken which cause the processing slow-down. Just a click of the button and a re-boot later, you're back to being faster yet vulnerable. Another click and re-boot and you're back to being protected but slower.
