Euphonix Artist

Hi,
we've been doing some mixing using a Euphonx Artist controlling a Pyramix.
As the Artist only works on a Mac computer at the moment, we used a mac as the "bridge" between the artist and pyramix.
the Control is excellent, and the artist behaves really well - the soft keys are really handy on the control unit too.
However, a major problem has been the memory usage. For some reason the Pyramix process doubles its memory usage when running the Artist.
Large projects become unstable and the system is stresses too much, particularly when saving projects.
Apparently this is because the system is not fully supported by euphonix yet (the mac "bridge" works, but is not the ideal solution).
hopefully Euphonix will update their code to work on PC in the near future and make this a viable controller for Pyramix systems.

Thanks for the info Graham.

I was reading this article: http://www.thelikelystory.com/articles/ ... ries-on-pc which explains how to setup a mac bridge for the Euphonix, glad to hear it functions with Pyramix as well.

Does this mean you still need the Eucon license key on you Pyramix system? I'm sure that's not a cheap cost option... :(

The Artist controller needs the OASIS Protocol Eco Class key which is the cheapest key of the OASIS range keys.

Just an update:

the system is now a lot more stable using the artist with Pyramix release MR2 and the Artist. We have had recent success running the two again, but still using a mac as a bridge.
the latest Euphonix software doesnt seem to work, but 1.4.1 works fairly well.

Still waiting for the PC drivers for the artist though.....

I hope they will change their mind..

Hi,

i tried controlling pyramix with the MC artist, but it didn't work. I have a better result with the EuConWS 1.4.2 driver than the newest 2.5

The 2.5 make Pyramix crash when setting Eucon in controller setting
The 1.4.2 crash at the start of windows ( mc client and eucondiscovery both crash ).Grahame say that it work with the 1.4.1 version.

Anyone have the EuConWS 1.4.1 installer?

And about the PC driver for the Artist serie, euphonix will not make one, they probably have some arrangement with Apple.

Best regard

Just to twist the knife, Avid (digidesign) has announced, at NAB, that it is purchasing Euphonix as of the end of April 2010. That should really speed up PC development for the Artist series.(and if you believe that .....)
