Noise reduction

happy new year

Does anyone have recommends for noise reduction software, Pyramix plugin or standalone. I have a concert marred by acoustic lighting buzz. I use Cedar Retouch all the time for removing coughs, thumps and mobile phones but clearly that not the tool for constant background noise. Having many moons ago cut my editing teeth on Sonic Solutions I remember that no noise was always an industry standard, at a price! and I wonder if that's still the case. I'm happy to move to a mac domain for the task in hand!

Thanks

Stephen

If you like Cedar, I believe they do make a De-Buzz product, but like all Cedar products, it is not inexpensive.

There's also the Algorithmix De-noiser which is available as an add-on license which you add to your Pyramix license.

You can do what I do, and use Izotope RX, currently at version 6. Buzzy lights can be problematic what with all the overtones, but using RX's "De-Hum" module, setting it to remove up to 10 harmonics of the base frequency should get you close. From there, "Spectral De-Noising" should get rid of most of what remains. You'll need a good 5 to 10 seconds of the "quiet" room (no performance) to train it, and then a manual adjustment to the frequency spectrum by ear (easily managed in RX), so that the light buzz artifacts are above the de-noising threshold and are therefore reduced. For the next few days, Izotope are offering a reduced price for RX and RX Advanced. https://www.izotope.com/en/products/rep ... -edit.html

For what it's worth, all three of these solutions will allow you to remain in the Windows domain.
