MPEX2 and DXD

Postby clarpro » Thu Dec 09, 2004 20:19

Hello,
I've been trying to do small pitch shifts in DSD using MPEX2. The previews are at original pitch and processing produces a file only a few frames long. The software works fine at lower sampling rates. The results are the same whether generating DXD or DSD files. I'm running 4.2.6 with an Intel D845PEBT2 board. Does anyone have any experience with DXD/MPEX2? No word from Pyramix support.
Thanks

I have the exact same symptoms working at 88.2 or 96khz - while it works fine at 44.1/48. Can't help you unfortunately, but you're not alone.

I have sent sessions/audio/etc... to merging, and am waiting on a conclusion.

Regards,

Mark

Hi all,

We're aware of this problem and are currently working on it.

As this depends on the Prosonic dev team we can't give any schedule yet, but we're definitely addressing this issue.

Best regards,

Dominique

Perhaps you don't know, but this is being sold as a product that works at up to 352KHz.

Hi everyone

I'm trying to clarify the encountered problems with MPEX2. Let me know if you agree or not.

According to Prosoniq, MPEX2 supports sample rates up to 96 kHz, so we cannot assure anyway the success of a MPEX2 render process on DSD/8Fs/4Fs data.
MPEX3 which will be available for pyramix 5.0, supports any sample rate.

The current implementation of MPEX2 in Pyramix 4.3 has a problem for 2Fs sample rates that can be easily reproduced with a small pitch shift. One or two buffer of audio data are processed and then it stops.

Another problem is known: when you apply MPEX2 at a sample rate higher than 64 kHz (64k is OK), there is a 6dB gain on the rendered audio material. This problem is likely to be caused by Prosoniq code.

Pyramix 5 will definitely solve all these issues. We're currently investigating the feasability of a patch for version 4.3. We'll let you know as soon as possible.

Best Regards
Frederic,
