Footpedal - Tip!

Postby per » Mon Apr 11, 2016 16:48

My producer wanted to have a foot pedal to activate talkback. I'm using the talkback function built into Pyramix.
Normally, talkback is toggled on and off by pressing the Home key.

To solve this, I purchased a USB Foot Pedal that delivers a keyboard key (definable) and in the Keyboard Shortcuts Settings in Pyramix I defined "Talk to all" to be activated by both "Home" and "Home Up". This way, talkback is activated as long as the pedal is held down and is deactivated as the pedal is released.

Thus, no need to buy a GPIO card :)
Cheers

By any chance are you talking about a Logidy UMI3 pedal? I've had one for years, and with its three buttons, I have it set to allow hands-free control over Talkback, entering Record and Stopping. http://logidy.com/?pid=1

i've had good luck with the Infinity USB foot pedal: http://smile.amazon.com/dp/B002MY6I7G
you just need to find software that works with it. i found Pedalware works well with this: http://www.altoedge.com/pedalware/
XKeys http://xkeys.com/XkeysFootPedals/index.php also make excellent foot pedals.

Thanks for great input!
You guys are using more sophisticating pedals than I :)
I bought a cheap usb pedal from China for $12 and it acts a an alpha-numeric keyboard. With the software that comes with it, I can decide what character (or sequence) you want the pedal to send. And you can have more than one pedal.

It will probably break after six months or so and then I'll buy a better one :)
