RTX Error - green Screen?

Postby Silas » Fri Oct 23, 2015 02:09

Hello to All,

Have any of you seen a Green Screen on shutdown? it seems to say something about an RTX error closing but it happens so fast I can't read it.

The computer then restarts on its own. I can then shutdown without issue.

PMX V9.1 MassCore
Windows 7 64bit
Gigabyte MB

Thanks in advance,
Silas

Hi Silas,

That happens from time to time with my system - similar setup with a Gigabyte motherboard.

I haven't quite figured out why, but it seems to happen if a project I've been working on has used Altiverb or Renovator or both perhaps. I also sometimes get a crash message on exiting Pyramix saying the Renovator Dll has crashed. Since updating the Syncrosoft dongle to the latest model however (mine was about 7 years old), I don't remember that coming up any more. Can't remember a green screen either for that matter. Do you have one installed?

Cheers,
Tom

Thanks Tom!

BTW, do you have now 3x entries in the boot selection menu at startup?:

Windows - RTX64
Windows
Windows - MassCore

Is this right?

Hi Silas,

I only see two entries:

Windows
Windows (MassCore)

Touching the proverbial 'wood', I haven't seen a MassCore/RTX 'GSOD' for a while...maybe since I stopped using Mykerinos and switched to Horus? (This is on both v9.x and v10 beta). I'm using the Merging recommended Giga-Byte M/B and the onboard intel video.

Thanks Graemme!

Hmmm...Sounds like our systems are quite similar (recommended Gigabyte mobo and onboard graphics).

Sounds like I'll need to reinstall MassCore / RTX at some point. Too bad as the rest of the system is working very nicely.

Likewise - I hope all is well. Hope to catch up sometime soon.

Hi Silas and Graemme,

That's interesting regarding the boot entries as I also have 3 entries - Win7 MassCore (RTX64), Win7, Win7 (MassCore). Always wondered what the last entry was for!

My MB is an X58 based one initially bought because of the proper PCI slot for the Mykerinos card. Graphics cards have been nVidia Quadro (MassCore would go crazy a couple of times a day with the log showing sync errors and large mixers had screen-redraw issues), an ATI Radeon (only worked without Catalyst as Renovator didn't display things correctly...but the MassCore errors went away), and now a FirePro card, but alas, the MassCore playback errors seem to have returned. Again, as many projects have been using Altiverb and Renovator, I think it's related to these rather than an issue with Pyramix. I do have hyperthreading enabled as it's supposed to work, but I'll try turning it off again and see if that makes a difference.

Cheers,
Tom

Tom,

I use Renovator (64bit) heavily and see no such errors. However, I don't use AltiVerb anymore, so can't help there. The 64-bit Renovator is much more stable than the 32-bit version.

Hi Graemme,

The Renovator errors seem certainly to have settled down now with the 64-bit version and the new eLicenser dongle, so I think it's also time to retire Altiverb. Just trying the demo of IRCAM Verb and it certainly sounds very natural - perhaps that will be a good alternative if it's included with v10.

Cheers,
Tom
