automation group fader confusion

hi folks, not an experienced user of pyramix (i have native v6.2).

i'm a bit confused. i've grouped two tracks in the mixer to 1 group for synced fade/gain control. no problem. when in write mode and i hit play the automation curve of the group fader works for both my grouped tracks. now.......when i stop and manipulate individual nodes on the group automation curve it has absolutely no effect on the grouped tracks...visually the group fader is still responsive to my nodal manipulations but the grouped tracks are just not responding . am i missing something obvious here??

It might be a bug on that version you are running, related to VCA grouping automation, I remember there was something about it, but can´t be sure. It´s a while since I used that version.

thx for that........ i might try and get round it by grouping the tracks and applying gain envelops. disappointed though

This has been changed in v7. Previously it used to be that when you used those group faders - it would write the automation to the grouped faders as well as the group master fader (as opposed to just the master with the grouped faders tracking). So if you want to edit the automation in your version you will need to edit the grouped faders themselves and not the group master - as they are only following automation written to their tracks. (Yes this is weird and confusing, but that's how it was)...

Hope that makes sense - FWIW the automation in v7 is much improved, and if you do a lot of automating you will be much happier if you upgrade.

No I am afraid there are still bugs on the group fader in V7. I have reported them a couple of times. At some point when writing the automation of the master fader its relationship with the member faders is lost and they all get the same value as the master, not retaining their relative values. For me it has been a big problem, not taken seriously enough.

It certainly doesn't surprise me that there are still problems, however I just finished a sizable project using 7.1.7 and the automation behaved significantly better than it ever has - and I didn't have any issues with automation on VCA groups as you describe.

If I do experience that I will definitely send a note and the project to Merging though.
