Buffer Overrun

When loading a project which has many pieces of audio on a firewire drive I have found that if I mount the drive when I start a new project and edit everything is fine. However, when I re-open the file at a later date a "Buffer Overrun Detected" error appears as the audio is being mounted. If I put the audio onto my internal drive the problem is resolved.

I've tried setting the "replay buffer size" to the maximum amount but the problem persists.

I'd rather work from an external drive, does anyone know how to resolve this?
