Medias not found

Postby Little tribeca » Sun Oct 25, 2015 22:00

Dear All,

I have this problem very often now:

For example, i do a multitrack recording in pyramix, my medias are in .pmf

I finish the recording, then backup the project to an external hard drive.

Then i want to look at my project from the external hard drive and i have 4 (i have around 600 takes) takes which are written offline.

So i check the media management and if i look at the number of the take, it does not appear in the media management....

So then i look in the hard drive, in my media folder, and i see my takes there. And if i compare the size and name with my recording on the other computer, it is all the same...

I tried to open a new blank project and to mount those takes but it does not work still..

I have tried everything but still can not resolve this situation.

Since the last 6 months, it happened on around 8 recordings....

I have called merging many times but they can not find solution.

So i hope somebody from you can help me.

Thanks

PMF , BWF or ?? file format?

Have you tried deleting the media management database?

Are you renaming any files (especially BWF) after they are recorded?

I tried to download the media recover tool but it dont work... I don't see why it's working on computer i recorded on and when i copyti an external hard drive it does not work...

I don't know either but something similar was discussed here a few years ago. Does this happen with *any* external drive or with a specific brand/model and interface (USB, SATA, etc.)?

Are the WD external drives formatted as FAT32 or NTFS?

Are those the drives that have both a USB 2 and USB 3 connection? If so, try the other connection.

The only other thing I can offer is that you try a completely different external drive, as strange as that sounds.

It's a simple USB3 drive, i did try actually with another drive from the same company but not same model and it was the same problem unfortunately...

This only happened since the beginning of this year, before i used those drives and never had such problem. Now it's too often and it worries me a lot when i do backups...

I will try with another brand when i get one.

Thanks

I'm assuming that, in the copied project, you've tried clicking on "Refresh Media Folder" in the Media Management Tab - with no happy outcome...

When you say you "backup the project to an external hard drive", are you simply dragging your session folder to copy it as you would with any file/folder within Windows? Is Pyramix running at the same time, or have you quit the program?

As an alternative, have you tried using the "Project Menu > Archive" function from within your active Pyramix session to copy your project and all its media to the other disk?
