Re: Keyboard

I still don´t understand why Merging didn´t aproach some of the customer keyboard manufacturers for a Pyramix specific one. We can have keyboards for PT, Nuendo, Cubase, Logic etc, but none for Pyramix, which is a shame. Wouldn't it be easier for Merging - or us - to lean on a company such as "...

Re: MD5

+1.
Using a separate application (we use "MD5Summer") to generate the checksum for the plant is just another step which shouldn't be necessary.
I assume it's not a GEAR issue, as the Sonoris DDP creator (which costs about 1/3 of Merging's DDP option, too) includes MD5 handling.

Re: Some mastering questions...

Yes indeed! I thought the phrasing in the release notes didn't quite make sense; that from the manual which you quote is more logical! And agreed - being able to use a high-level, professional editing & mastering application to generate files in the one digital format that the majority of client...

Re: Some mastering questions...

Looks like the latest update - PMX v7.0 SP2 - answers this query. According to the release notes, the Album Publishing function (which also now works from within DiscWrite - i.e. using a PMI as the source) includes: “Include Pause” checkbox (enabled by default) for One File Per Track files enables C...

Re: How to stream audio from pmx masscore while recording

Try Source-Live (from Source Elements). You may prefer to run this from a separate machine - e.g. sending the mix out to your laptop and use Source Live from there, so there's no risk to your session, you Pyramix needn't be connected to the internet, and you can always use Skype for an extra talkbac...

Re: File Locations

Hi Larry, we follow a similar system to Graemme's: Project folder... containing -> Meta (EDLs, Pyramix library file for that project, saved mixers, maybe session photos too, plus PQ sheets for the master etc. and any text document notes.) -> Media Files (original session media. Sometimes divided int...

Click Tracks - v7

Hi all,
I recall there were 'issues' using a Pyramix-generated click track (when recording to the same Pyramix) back in v.5.
Does anybody know if these were solved in v7 (or v6)... and how reliable click tracks are in the latest versions?
Thanks,

Re: Client refs via iTunes

Frank, If I'm right, I recall the album publishing feature in v7 doesn't do mp3. Logically, this feature would be the ideal tool for this task - label up the tracks in PMX in the usual fashion, then hit "go" to generate a full set of mp3's (or whatever format). But there's some licensing i...

Re: Album Publishing formats

+1 (again) for full MP3 support. Regardless of what one might think of the format, it's a very useful tool, and one which we are expected to use daily, be it for preparing downloads for sale or for quickly emailing / uploading edit versions for checking etc.. It's a real drag having to export either...

Hi David,
for me, they are usually arrow up / arrow down...
(A group of colleagues have the same, but inverted, which makes it feel very odd when swapping systems temporarily!)

Re: Timeline Zooming to middle of screen

I think in v5 the zoom in/out key commands (typically mapped top up arrow / down arrow) did this - they centre the cursor PPOS on screen and zoom in/out around that. Is it possible that in v7 there are different zoom related commands, and doing it via the mouse produces a different centering (or lac...

Re: Re ordering track layout

Is there a particular reason for needing the 2T on 1&2 rather than 13&14? If it's just to see it first, you could collapse the track group, and set the collapsed display to "13", then you'd see 2T-left instead of whatever 1 is (main pair left?) If it's for output of course then jus...

Re: Distortion on my MADI card.... why?

Don't really know, but...
Are the two cards connected internally i the machine with the proper ribbon cable?
Have you tried flicking the "master" and DSP allocation round in VS3 Settings to see if that makes any difference?

Re: Avoiding keyboard commands going to mixer

- Why is "set focus to timeline" being triggered by a shortcut even when the cursor is blinking in a text box, whereas no other command does behave so? almost... but if the previous focus was the mixer while recording, and you then stop recording, the "Name Take" dialog box pops...

Re: Avoiding keyboard commands going to mixer

Might it be simplest if the keyboard commands which control the mixer (when in focus) were just displayed in the keyboard shortcut editor? That gives any user the choice of setting up their own preferences, something which PMX is known for. One could either leave the commands (say up arrow and down ...
