Re: Mysterious Pop and loss

I'll add to what Graemme said by saying it's my understanding - from an old post by Mark Donahue - that setting recording block size to 64K should be optimal.

Re: Mysterious Pop and loss

Hi Don, This could be from several causes, including non-Pyramix related ones. One thing I'll suggest is that if you're recording in pmf format (good idea), don't use one-file-per-track. Pyramix is much more efficient handling interleaved pmf files. Of course if you're recording using bwf, you'll wa...

Re: External HDs

Hi Preston, The fans are quiet for the most part...about 90% of the time. It seems that every now & again they get a bad batch of fans, which ramps up the noise a bit. Having said that, the other nice design feature of the Avastors is that the enclosures disassemble and re-assemble in seconds......

Re: External HDs

Hi Don,

Look at the Avastor quad-interface drives:

No wall-wart, FW 400/800, eSATA, & USB 3.0. We've been using them for years.

Best wishes

Among Pyramix users, here are three:

David Frost (Best Small Ensemble)
John Newton, Jesse Lewis (Best Engineered Album, Classical)

I'm sure there are others?

Re: EuCon 64 bit fix PLEAAAASE

We've solved this here, the problem turned out to be a bad Avid unit. They sent another, and all is working fine. Installing the 64-bit drivers, followed by the 32-bit drivers, results in a system which seems entirely stable with Pyramix alone. I understand this doesn't help those who are running mo...

Re: EuCon 64 bit fix PLEAAAASE

Hello all, Joining this discussion late....although I've been looking through the comments complaining about difficulties running more than one DAW on a 64-bit platform with Eucon (when one of the DAWs is Pyramix). Anyway, I'm just about to embark on this, so I have this one question: Are any users ...

You probably need the Advanced Audio Codec key?

Re: Source Destination Keyboard Commands

Hi Preston, Everyone has a different workflow....I probably spend a few extra seconds in the timeline initially, placing the gates very precisely. Then with one macro, many edits are fine & I'm off to the next one without ever using the FEW. Of course with some edits, you'll end up spending a bu...

Re: Source Destination Keyboard Commands

Hi,

You don't need the macro....but it's faster than adding separate keystrokes to apply xfades, and since I always have Auto-save turned off, it's comforting to know that you've saved your project recently.

Re: Faster Track Grouping Request

Hi,

You can quite easily go into the Tracks tab, select a whole load of contiguous tracks, and assign them to any track group which you've created (in the Track Groups tab).

Re: Source Destination Keyboard Commands

Hi David, There are lots of ways to get around in S-D editing mode…we use macros, and you could begin with something like this: First, assign a keystroke for the command Selection > Select between gates (we use F9). Then, in the xfade edit window, create and save a default xfade (e.g. 5.0 ms/Power)....

Re: RAM limitation with PMX7 MassCore

Jaap is correct as always, but I assumed Morten was asking about the old "whatever you do don't put more than 3 GB RAM in your system" problem. With Pmix V7, having 4GB RAM in a Masscore system is no longer a problem - in either Win 7 or XP. I believe this was solved somewhere back in V6 (...
