Re: Mytek Stereo192-DSD

Actually Paolo - Mytek does have a new"ish" DAC that is the Stereo192-DSD dac with USB. It is aimed at the audiophile playback market primarily, and claims to support playback of DSD files via the USB port. I haven't tried one myself, but it does exist. (I would expect DSD playback to be u...

Re: BWAV file name and handling

I know this isn't necessarily good for everyone's workflow, but if you render and rename the file/segment in pyramix first and then destructively alter that file in an external program you can avoid this problem. (rather than opening an existing file in another program and doing a "save as"...

Re: Mono / Stereo wav Mix

This is one of many features of a product that my company http://www.musicallypro.com has been working on. The official release will be in September this year, but I could set you up with a beta account before then if you're interested. With regards to what you're looking for we have a utility that ...

Re: Clip time and moving cursor

I do not believe there is a way of displaying a clip specific timescale. What I do to go x amount into a clip is: cursor to start of clip place mark in enter duration/length in mark in/out duration field (field above timescale immediately to the right of mark in and mark out locations) mark out is n...

Re: Mixer Preset States - more easily accessed, please

Going back to the way it used to be would be great. ie: when dragging a mixer snapshot from the library holding nothing just sets the snapshot without interrupting playback etc..., and holding control while doing it forces a mixer rebuild when necessary because of plugin changes, strip changes, etc...

Re: Sonic Solutions Import

I still have an SSP system lying around with 5.4.x beta on it (which was the last version working with those sonic classic systems) - so 5.4 != HD. I jumped shipped before HD though so I have no idea what version number that started at.

Re: Sonic Solutions Import

You're both right. Sonic originally wrote only to drives on it's own scsi buss that were formatted as "DFS". At some point (I forget when exactly) a preference was added that would mount these drives on the desktop when Sonic was running - allowing the copying of files between DFS formatte...

Re: Live Mix with Pyramix, and Mixer Preset Questions

Not that you'll want to do this, but prior to pmx V6 if you dragged a mixer snapshot from the library (without holding control - which forces rebuild/restructure) it would apply it to the mixer instantly without rebuilding. This was incredibly useful, and for the life of me I do not understand why i...

Re: BWF format

BWF is just an extension of the WAVE format, and it is well established. Anything that can read wave files can read bwf files and will just ignore the additional information (in fact if there was something that had a problem reading bwf it would almost certainly have problems reading standard wave f...

Re: Building a tempo map (or not)

The bars and beats settings dialogue is a little confusing, but does actually work. The main thing you need to do is to think in terms of number of bars at a given tempo/meter and think of those separately. eg: if you have say a tempo of 120bpm at b1 and then a tempo of 96bpm at b20. You would set b...

Re: Playback ITunes and Pyramix simultaneously

Part 1. You can't really do this* (see part 2). The whole purpose of asio is to get low latency direct sound i/o between an application and your audio hardware. Very few asio drivers support multiple clients (ie: multiple software using the card/interface simultaneously) - this is not pyramix specif...

Re: Pyramix CD Images

Well I have to say that archiving aside - I use discwrite to burn discs for clients - if they want to burn their own I just tell them to download the wave files that I extract from the pmi and burn a disc in itunes (which almost everyone has) making sure to set "no spacing between tracks" ...

Re: Pyramix CD Images

It's been a while since I've looked at disc image formats, but are you certain about this? I intend to test this out, but look at page 489 in the version 7 manual where, after some detailed description of CD Cue sheets, it says, "PMI file has to be renamed with .BIN extension instead of .PMI&q...

Re: Pyramix CD Images

Since the PMI is essentially a big WAV file with all the audio data, you could just change the file extension from .pmi to .bin, edit the cue sheet to reflect the name change, and presto, you have a bin/cue combo which can be used with Nero or ImgBurn or EAC to burn a CD. It's been a while since I'...
