Re: URGENT - file recovery

Would be happy to chat on the phone next week if you'd like John. There are no easy solutions for audio files if the drive index can't be restored.

Re: URGENT - file recovery

John what format is the drive in question? NTFS?

Glad you can re-record - whether or not the problem is data or physical you are unlikely to be able to recover it before the end of your sessions.

Re: URGENT - file recovery

Sorry to hear this John - that's horrible.

What do you mean by "my main audio drive stopped working" - can you mount it at all, does it not even turn on, does it click but not mount, does it mount but doesn't show any files, etc...?

Can you post the contents of the CDTEXT.bin file from the ddp folder?

Re: Renovator for noise elimination

It is absolutely possible to achieve impressive results with reNOVAtor, however it does take a lot of getting use to, and can become very time-consuming - depending on the project it may not always be worth the time and expense. There are times when I'll spend 20 minutes fussing on some complex nois...

"better performance" setting for usb drives

I've been meaning to ask for a while... Can this be disabled so that it never asks, and never makes a change? I use usb drives all the time and never have performance issues with them for the majority of projects using pmf files. I ask as I frequently use both HFS+ formatted drives as well as NTFS. ...

Re: Microsoft Surface Pro 4

It will work, but even with only 4 tracks the entire thing will be sluggish at best on a Core M processor. I have tried this on a few different machines to use as quick way to make changes while I'm travelling, and while it works in a pinch is not a viable (or pleasurable) way to work imo. Regards, ...

Re: EUCON not working properly - help!

This has happened to me a few times when I build a new machine. The .dll is not registered correctly and you need to do it manually. The dll you want to look for is called "MTOASISTPortEucon.dll" It is in /Program Files/Common Files/Merging Technologies/Controllers.

Re: Album Publishing: Dither for 24-bit ?

I would also just throw out there that there is no reason to be noise-shaping dither applied to a 24bit signal - the fact that noise shaping is not an option is not a red flag.

Re: Automation on VCA

One option (if practical for you) would be to remove the faders from the VCA groups and coalesce the VCA automation to the individual tracks.

Re: Intel C602 chipset

Have you guys tried disabling hyperthreading? I have never used more than an i5 on my native systems for this reason. On my i5 systems pyramix native most definitely uses multiple threads and multiple cores (how optimized it is for that I can't say - but I work on quite sizable projects without issu...

Re: Special Symbols in CD Text

Hi Zana, Others on here may have more details - it's been a while since I've had to delve deeply into this. CD-Text is encoded as ISO/IEC 8859-1. So a good starting point would be to check what characters are supported there, and then make sure to enter the characters according to this standard. Reg...

Re: CPU usage in pyramix native

In my own experience with native I have found the following: - processing related to pyramix's mixer will use all cores (however...) - once the pyramix cpu meter (in pyramix) passes 60% or so you may start to notice occasional glitches (how occasional depends on a variety of factors with your system...

Re: Pyramix 8.1.11 not syncing to external wordclock

I cannot explain to you why it worked before for you, but I can tell you that like Masato above this has always been the behaviour I have experienced - and I have been using Pyramix since version 3. If you change the sr setting in pyramix to what it is receiving and it locks then there is no problem...
