Re: Slate Virtual Tape Machine

Is that using an iLok?
There was a recent update PACE made that caused major problems for many users.
There are discussions about this on other forums (Gearsluts etc.) with many angry people.

Re: Surround configuration

What Yamaha desk is it?
I think most of the newer ones can change the output order.
We have a DM2000 and it can deliver L, R, C, Lfe, Ls, Rs.

Re: - offset in the external machine control window

Hi Ricardo,

Many thanks for that. VERY helpful.

Would the - and + keys not have been more logical though?!

Thanks again,
Davy

- offset in the external machine control window

Hi, In the window that controls external machines (like digibetas) there's a box that deals with offsets. I can type in positive offsets, but I can't figure out how to type in negative offsets. I've tried pressing the "-" key before and after typing in an offset, but no joy. I'm sure it's ...

I've just had a quick play, and it looks like I'm wrong. I can't figure out how we got the REL box to stay unticked, but we did. Now I can't get it to go on constantly! Maybe it's part of the template? At the start of a new project the first time we select the gain, the dialog box is top left of scr...

There is a way to do this, but I'm not likely to be near a Pyramix for a while to see how we got it to work. I think it's something about right clicking on a clip initially, then using the keyboard shortcut from then on. We may have created a keyboard shortcut (we went for "G"!) or else &q...

Thanks for the replies.

Nearly all the files on our drive will have been imported omf files- so apart from the occasional stereo recording, there are no multi-track files.

So, I'm guessing I can de-frag with no worries?

Cheers,
Davy

Disc fragmentation

Hi, The windows disc defrag tool tells me I should defrag the media drive. I'm told that some software (e.g. Avid) don't respond well to defragging if you want to use the media on the disc! I've had a look in the manual and on the FAQ sections here, but can't find any reference to it. So, can I safe...

There's a company in the UK called "Aspen Media" who are very good on TDIF stuff. Their number is 01296 681313.

If this long run doesn't work, you could get a TDIF to ADAT converter and put it near the PMix. Then get a ADAT card for the Yamaha desk?

We had that "not responding" message once.
It was because we had not selected "internal" as our transport in the drop down menu in the transport section.
Maybe worth checking?

Are you creating a new project from a template? Maybe the mounted folders are part of that template? In the applications settings where you selected "do not try mounting any media or folders", maybe the box at the top "Automatically open previous projects" is ticked? Just a coupl...
