Re: Album Publishing, process signal flow

Actually, it's very important info to have here in the forum... I will check to be sure and for now, here's my semi-educated guess: 2. Gain change 1. SRC 3. Wordlength Reduction/Dither 4. Formatting (LPCM) and/or Encoding(Lossless/Lossy) Some SRC algorithms create overload problems, so very high-lev...

Re: Time for a new PC

David, I don't have the SMP key myself, so this is speculation: Can you reverse your allocation and use 4 processors for VST and 2 for MassCore? If this is the case, then combining this with Mark's suggestions would make for a very VST-capable system. I run 1x MassCore processor and 3x VST processor...

Re: Consolidate?

Render is not what you want; it only deals with what's on the timeline and none of the mixer functions. There's probably a much easier way but the following is 'known to work' (only sorta') quick and (very) dirty method: Assuming that panning doesn't matter... Add the 'La Totale' 32-channel output b...

Re: Crossfade clicks in DSD projects

Yes, you can use the 'DSD-Rendering' command to render the DSD audio in your timeline, even while you are in a DXD project. You are correct: DSD-Rendering copies source DSD material into the output file and only converts that which is part of a fade (in/out/x) or a clip where a level/polarity change...

Re: Crossfade clicks in DSD projects

Having used both Pyramix and Sonoma systems, I will say that things are never so simple. There is a lot going on 'under the hood' of the Sonoma system with respect to noise-shaping, 8-bit to 1-bit conversions, DSP-sidechain, etc. and at the end of the day, both systems have advantages and disadvanta...

Re: Crossfade clicks in DSD projects

In a DSD project, Pyramix is only working in DSD-mode, so there will be clicks at edit points because there is no *real-time* conversion to DXD. As you correctly note, the clicks go away when the file has been DSD-rendered. If you want to avoid this behaviour, convert your project to DXD, do your ed...

Re: Which ASIO interface do you use ?

Hi Preston, I've used the Weiss AFI-1 for years: It behaves well and the clocking is solid. Graemme I'm using a RME Fireface UFX+ via USB to get AES out of native. Since the UFX+ has lots of other uses around the studio, I'd like to free it up. Need to find a cost effective way of getting AES out of...

Re: Pyramix not booting - "windows will advise a solution"

Of course, you could just turn off 'automatic updates' and save your self many, many headaches. I run Windows 7-64-bit and have no such issues. I only do updates when I have the time to lose several hours of my life...in other words, only when I really need to.

Re: Pyramix 10.2.0 and Slate Digital and FabFilter Compatibi

Cem,

I can't help with the Slate plug-ins but I use the FF multi-band, EQ2 and Limiter (Pro-L2) on occasion and have had no compatibility issues with them.

Re: SACD Authoring - uncompress?

Basically, "No." It would involve decoding and re-encoding the CMF (CMF>DST>DSDIFF>Different DST Settings>DST>CMF). In the SACD manufacturing process there is no further data processing of the CMF. It's considered to be an 'ISO' image intended for replication. There are security features a...

Re: Izotope Insight with Pyramix

I use Insight every day...no crashes that I could directly attribute to it. I have my VST latency set quite high because of the DMG EQlibrium plug-in (and a few others). In general, it's a good idea to set the VST latency as high as you can stand it...then it tends not to be a buzzkill when you feel...

Re: iZotope RX5 Connect

ASIO4ALL = only use in the most dire need...it's only a (sometimes useful) wrapper for Windows audio. Finding inexpensive DACs with real ASIO drivers is a bit frustrating. I ended up with a LH Labs Geekout V2 and was pleasantly surprised to find it had a bona fide ASIO driver and worked upto DSD128 ...

Re: Dither to MTFF

There's little reason to use *any* dither when converting from 32-bit FP to 24-bit Integer. 32-bit float audio does not equal 32-bit integer audio. In Pyramix, there is no strict need to dither 32-bit FP to 24 bit integer. A non-clipping 32-bit floating point file, when nulled against a 24 bit integ...

Re: Pyramix 10.0.7 Crash - now cannot boot up!

Long ago, I learned to make backups of all of Pyramix' various settings files. The only one I've ever needed for a rescue was the actual '.pms' version. Store it somewhere outside of the main Pyramix folder (so it survives a re-install) and you're good to go if this problem shows up again (and it wi...
