Merging Technologies

The system freezes or will run for a while before crashing during mixdown. The finger is pointing towards Waves VSTs. I have upgraded to Pyramix V12 and updated the Eucon, Avid S3 and Dock. All is working fine except the updated Ipad protools control pad no longer shows levels and has other issues.

Anyone come across this or have a suggestion to remedy the problems?

Thank you Julian, I havent yet found a way to link the jog wheel of the Dock with the Pyramix functions.

Julian, how did you get the jog controller to work with any key. I havent had any luck with getting any elements of the jog/shuttle to work with the Pro Tools Dock and Pyramix.

At present, to turn the timecode display on and off in the video overlay one has to go into settings, video settings, select or unselect the box in Video Output. My US clients supply ProRes which work superbly. My Uk editors suppy Mpeg 4 QuickTime and MXF files, which are also fine.

Will look into Davinci Resolve. Thanks for the heads up.

Incase anyone else has this problem, it is an issue with the ProTools dock. It is easily resolved by turning off PT Control on the Ipad and then restarting PT Control.

Buffersize (latency) 128 for recording voices/post sync - I get clicks but no latency/delay to the artist in the studio. Clicks are on monitoring only.
Buffersize for mixing is at least 1024 samples. No issues whatsoever with mixing.

The ProRes files I get from Apple editors plays back brilliantly on my Native Pyramix with the latest version 7 software. I am trying to work out the best video files from an editor who works on a PC with Avid.

Any suggestions?

When I am recording on a single channel, in this case, channel 1, after a few hours other channels will start arming themselves for record.

Anyone come across this before?

The work around is to shut down Pyramix and restart it.
